Esolution Awarded a new Bridge Posttensioning work in Saudi Arabia

esolution construction and Engineering Saudi Arabia have been awarded supply and application of posttension concrete works using its approved European technical approved range of products multistrand anchorage system for the precast girders forms a bridge in al madina al monawara, the bridge consist of sixteen girders mirrored on both road sides to form a U-Turn, girders are are 41.00 meters spans and ETA Anchorages are supplied with range of 22.00 strands and 19.00 strands anchorages with Engineering design of the beams reviewed by esolution, approved by the consultant using grillage model for the bridge deck, shop drawings prepared following MOMRA and AASHTO requirements for the bridge deck design and loading.

Anchorage components and description 

Wedges

  • Device capable of gripping the single strand and transferring the load to the anchor plate through the conical hole in it.

Wedge plate

  • steel disk hosting strands and wedges, resting over the cast-iron block embedded into the concrete.

Cast-iron block

  • Piece designed to transfer the load to the surrounding concrete. In some systems it can also be designed to directly accomodate holes for wedges that grip the strand trumpet when present, it is joined to the cast-iron block and permits the deviation of the entire bundle of strands entering the duct. Confinement and Bursting reinforcement spiral-shaped reinforcement and rebars properly placed around the anchorage to ensure the bearing of local high stresses and the containment of local tension-induced bursts.
